EU agricultural policy, butterflies, and an appeal

February 19, 2024 - What do butterflies have to do with EU agricultural policy? How can agriculture and nature conservation work together to tackle challenges in land use? What contribution does science make to clearing up misinformation and implementing a knowledge-based agricultural policy?
At a joint online event of the projects VielFalterGarten and CAP4GI on February 8, Dr. Guy Pe'er (iDiv/UFZ) provided information on current political developments. He placed particular emphasis on the question of why it is absolutely necessary not to cut back on the protection of biodiversity: Curbing the biodiversity crisis and restoring ecosystem functions is of elementary importance for agricultural businesses as well as in the interests of the population.
